PASTOR JOHN MELE
Hope Baptist Church has been pastored by Preacher John Mele since September 11th, 2005. Brother Mele is the senior pastor of the ministry and currently performs most responsibilities around the ministry including preaching and teaching the Gospel, Sunday School curriculum preparation, leading soulwinning, the adult choir, and other church programs and ministries.
Pastor Mele was born and lived in Des Moines, and later New Hampton, Iowa. During his childhood and teenage years, Preacher was raised in a Roman Catholic home. Upon graduating high school, he went to college at the University of Arizona and earned a 5 year, Bachelor’s Degree of Architecture. In the summer of 1994, he moved to the “Chicagoland” area and began working in the field of architecture. (*If you would like to read about the Preacher’s spiritual transformation from religiosity to atheism and finally surrender unto the Lord, view Pastor’s Testimony: LINK: “There Is No God!”) Brother Mele began attending the Northwest Bible Baptist Church pastored by Dr. Keith Gomez. At the end of five months in that church, Holy Spirit conviction and hard preaching compelled Brother Mele to repent and be saved in December of 1994. In the Spring of 1995, God called him to surrender to preaching the Gospel. It was at that time that he began preparing to eventually fulfill God’s call to pastor a local, New Testament Church. In 1998, he began full-time training for the Pastorate at Providence Baptist College located in Elgin, Illinois. In May of 2000, Brother Mele graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral Theology.
LIFE AND MINISTRY IN MINNESOTA
In 2002, the Mele family moved to Rosemount, Minnesota where he became a full-time assistant pastor in ministry of the First Baptist Church of Rosemount under Pastor Dave Clear. For five years, his major responsibilities included running the First Baptist Church Bus Ministry, overseeing the Children’s Church Ministry, and preaching and teaching the Bible in the Church and its Christian School. In 2005, First Baptist Church also acquired the ministry and property of the Hope Baptist Church in Minneapolis. Under Brother Mele’s leadership, Hope Baptist Church operated as a “satellite church ministry” with services twice a week.
On July 15th, 2007, Hope Baptist Church re-chartered as an independent, local, New Testament Church with Brother Mele as it’s Senior Pastor. At that time, he resigned his service to the First Baptist Church and committed his full-time energies to reaching the largest city in the Northern Midwestern plains for Christ.
Pastor Mele has also been blessed to become a husband and father. During his eight years residency in Illinois, he met his wife, Jennifer in the Northwest Bible Baptist Church ministry. She was a teacher in that church’s Christian School as well as a faithful soulwinner, choir member, and servant for the Lord. Their courtship became a God-ordained marriage in 1996. Brother and Mrs. Mele have been blessed by the Lord with three children: Rosalie, Esther, and Ezekiel. And one day, they shall also be reunited with two more souls that were never physically born.
The Mele’s know that God’s providence and faithful goodness has led them to the city of Minneapolis. Please come and hear the Word of God as it is preached without compromise by God’s man.
