ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL SERIES
THIS WEEK (July 8th and 15th): We will continue our series on the practical life lessons that can be gleaned from the kings of Israel and Judah. Solomon’s idolatry led to the consequences of God dividing Israel into two kingdoms: Judah (south) and Israel (north). We will study the rise of Jeroboam and the pride of Rehoboam.
ABOUT THIS STUDY:
From approximately 1095 BC until 586 BC, part or all of Canaanland had kings ruling the Jewish people. We will examine the historical timelines of these men in the Unified Kingdom as well as the divided North and South Kingdoms. Each of these leaders were judged by God for their stewardship of the throne. Each man followed another (except Saul), and then passed on their own legacy to the next royal. It will be interesting to see if patterns exist or not in the activities of each succeeding king. Ultimately, this series will let us see history repeating itself in our modern day just as it played out in those days. Join us for this exciting and relevant study into the continually futile realm of mankind BUT with the Lord’s faithful dealings with humanity despite itself.
THE VALUE OF THE ADULT BIBLE CLASS
2 Timothy 4:1-4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
It is an ever more cynical, skeptical, unbelieving day in this world. More and more people view the Lord not with fear, but with doubts, and too often, even irreverent mockery. It is common to mention the Lord and have someone roll their eyes, or smirk with a derogatory thought of disbelief under their breath. Ever more frequently, people seem ready to fire questions that openly defy and challenge the existence and/or need to fear and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Almost everyone seems to ask and know the apparent ‘buzz-gotcha’ questions that Believers are going to struggle, and often fail, to answer.
WHAT MUST YOU DO TO BE SAVED??? LINK HERE!
WHY do Believers do so poorly in defending THE FAITH?
We don’t really learn and study it! So the scoffers and Unbelievers (with a capital ‘U’) tend to stymie the legitimacy of the Lord due to the foolishness and lack of knowledge of the true, born-again Christian. Furthermore, many ‘strands’ or denominations (some true and many false) butcher Bible principles up trying to accentuate one doctrine over and above all others. The end result is to [humanly] conquer and divide God’s Word in grotesque ERROR!!! That causes CONFUSION…and the author of that is who??? The devil!
“Buzz-Gotcha” Question #1: WHY ARE THERE SO MANY RELIGIONS ALL PROFESSING TO REPRESENT AND KNOW GOD’S WILL BUT THEY CONTRADICT EACH OTHER???
SIMPLE ANSWER #1: Because there are so many so-called theologians and teachers that don’t study God’s Word correctly (or at all)!!!
- 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
- Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
ANSWERING “BUZZ-GOTCHA” QUESTIONS
Usually, the answer to this kind of questioning is to provide no response at all. Proverbs 26:4 says, Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. And in 2 Timothy 2:16-17 Paul again warns, But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; BUT, many people are also throwing the ‘Buzz-Gotcha’ questions out there because they are seeing too many Christians that talk about the Lord BUT neither live or walk much in Him! Ouch! And many are hearing the questions but with no answers being given.
The fact is that most people aren’t the capital ‘U’ unbeliever or scoffer, but rather lost sinners that are either too lazy, or completely distracted by the devil’s best tactic of keeping us too busy to search the Scriptures for THE TRUTH. Unfortunately, we aren’t living in the days of the Bereans (Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.)! So we, the Believers, should know how to make the WORD OF GOD REAL to the distracted, unknowing masses! Romans 10:17 says, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
